The story starts with Tom being entrusted with the mission of telling the King of Avantia, King Hugo, about the strange wildfires happening near Errrinel, his home village. He sneaks into the palace and informs King Hugo and is entrusted with a second mission: to free the good beasts of Avantia from an evil wizard, Malvel, who has turned the good beasts evil. On the way, he meets Elenna, who helps him succeed in freeing Ferno from the spell.
The main characters in this story are Tom, Elenna, Aduro the good wizard, King Hugo and Malvel.
